Previously: John Goudge Band has just got back from a wet yet magnificant PRANA festival at Ohui on the Coromandel. Five days of camping in wet weather failed to dampen the spirits of the band and all the wonderful Prana people. Our gig on the main Pohutakawa stage was threatened due to water getting into the lighting system. The first couple of days on that stage were cancelled and the programme had to be reshuffled as a result. Luckily, the weather cleared enough on Sun 1 Jan 2012 to allow the crew to set up for the night's entertainment - which included us, Prosad, Mundi, and a cameo from Luke Hurley.

previous previous entry -

John Goudge Band is gearing up for the first big gig of 2012 - playing on the main stage at PRANA on the evening of New Year's Day.

PRANA is really the most uplifting feel good festival of the year. The 4-day celebration (30 Dec 2011 - 3 Jan 2012) is on the Coromandel near Opoutere at the Prana Eco-retreat - a beautiful place with forests, hills & beach. The ambience of the forest, sea & sky, along with the friendly genuine people make Prana a real joy.

We are playing on the Pohutakawa stage, so named because of the wonderful trees that make a natural ampitheatre. The sound, video & lighting show last year was top notch.

Prana New Year Festival 2012 includes:

* NZ & International Creatives * art projects * light shows * dance music performances and workshops
* national and international bands and performers * meditations * workshops speakers
* healers * marketstallholders * 3-part Kids Zone
* Buddhafield * Yoga

One of the noteable things about Prana is how tranquil & peaceful it is even with a few thousand other people there. There is enough space to find quiet time. The entertainment provided for the children gives parents some time for themselves, & the lack of boozey culture makes late night a joy, without the usual yobbos you might expect at 3 in the morning.

The food is not bad either, & while you are eating, you are bound to bump into someone you haven't seen for a while, or a stranger that is genuinely interesting.

The myriad of workshops are free with your ticket, so not only can you relax, or party, you can learn, heal & develop. Workshops range from very practical to very out there - you choose. And the healing practicioners are generally experts in their fields with honest love for their clients.
